Fidya – For inability to fast

عَلَى الَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ

Those who find it straining shall be liable to atonement by feeding a needy person [2:184]

Fidya is the compensation for those not able to fast in the holy month due to legitimate reasons, and are unable to make up the fasts during the year e.g. the elderly, sick, pregnant and nursing women.

It is in the form of feeding a needy person 750 grams of food for each fast.
